I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, whether related to a recent event or part of an ongoing pattern. In a comfortable and supportive environment, I offer individualized approaches, tailored to each of my client’s needs, to help them reach their personal goals.
I individualize my approach with each client with whom I work, incorporating therapeutic modalities from several different approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, narrative therapy, internal family systems therapy (IFS), and family systems therapy. I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy for recovery from trauma and management of anxiety, when appropriate.
Certified EMDR Clinician
I am Certified in EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) . I offer this specialized treatment modality to clients who are struggling to overcome the negative effects of past traumatic experiences (such as, sexual abuse, relationship trauma, and physical or violent abuse) or to overcome troubling emotions associated with difficult life circumstances (such as, a job loss or a relationship breakup). EMDR Therapy is also effective in treating acute anxiety disorders, such as panic episodes/panic attacks and phobias.
EMDR Therapy is a comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach that accesses the mind’s natural tendency to process information and resolve negative experiences in an adaptive way. It is helpful for resolving past traumatic experiences and moving past the negative thoughts and feelings associated with past trauma. EMDR Therapy incorporates aspects of other well-respected therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy and experiential/body-centered therapy. For most clients who participate in EMDR treatment, symptoms are reduced considerably and many clients are no longer bothered by traumatic memories, distressing emotions or anxiety symptoms.
